My Trainer Elder ValVerde

My companion is Elder Val Verde, he is from Ecuador. He is really tall for an Ecuadorian about 5 11. He is one of 3 kids and two parents. His dad was baptized about 30 years ago in Ecuador. He lives with his family in Guayaquil. He is probably the best English speaker of the natives here. He likes to speak English and is actually really good. As long as I speak slow he gets a lot of it.

We have been contacting and teaching... in Spanish. I don’t say a whole lot, but I can testify and am understanding them ma or meno ...more or less.... they don’t really say the s-s. Our investigators right now are Clevia and Matis, Carlos, and Venesa. I Love you family. We have family night with a member tonight. I look forward to that. Thank thank thank you love you love you...

(To Jayce)
I’m so glad for the people, friends, leaders, family etc... that were great examples to me. I’ll tell you what Jayce. I love being who I am. It feels so good to be able to do anything you want or to keep yourself from doing what the natural man wants. I know that what I’m doing is right. I feel the spirit strong in my personal studies and companion and language study and out on the street too. It’s really awesome being a missionary. It’s hard too. This is why we do hard things, so we have the ability to quench the fire when blazing hot. I wish you could see this. It is so different. I didn’t think people really lived here, but they do, and a lot of dogs also. All the houses have fences around them. When we knock doors, we don’t knock at all, we stand at the gate a say “halo”, then they will either come and open the gate, hide, or just talk to us through their door which is about 15 feet back from where we stand. We’ve met some really cool people here and I’m having a great time. Please pray for me. it really is hard though and people need this message to bless their lives; they really don’t understand. I’ve showed the picture of our family to 3 or 4 families, some members and some non members. They just don’t know how great we have it because of the Gospel. Take a second to think of all the things we do as a family and how close we are. … I pray the people I show the picture to can see the light that beams from our eyes. Take a second to really think about what the Gospel has brought us as a family and also why you personally are different because of it. I’m still realizing the blessings that have come and are still coming from the Gospel. Really work hard on developing your testimony of the Gospel, the Book of Mormon, you are a child of God, the Prophet Joseph and living prophets etc... when you receive a spiritual prompting that those things are true, your testimony grows by leaps and bounds. Ask Heavenly Father what you need most. Talk to him, He knows you and what you need. Report how your day went and ask what you have done that has offended the spirit today...that was a challenge to me by President Gubler in the MTC. Please pray for me, I feel close to our family... like your with me where I go when I imagine you praying for me. Thank you for your prayers and letters. Keep being awesome brother. Please write me as often as you like. I sure love you brother. I have been thinking about where you might serve... It doesn’t really matter though. Just get ready to do your best. You’re awesome and I love you. Love you tons bro. hasta luego
