WELCOME TO CHILE!

Wow the Andes are really big. We didn’t land in a big city though, it was in the outskirts (jed- wow this key board is totally out of my league Spanish style. Sorry for the errors.) I still can’t figure out where these 8 million people live.

Wow, this really is Chile. Let’s just say there’s a whole new meaning to "ants in my pants". We killed a lot of them this morning with raid, I’m not sure if that will work because they usually nest in the cracks and crevices of the foundation you know. smiley face (Braden was referring to selling pest control this summer).... we have a stove, a fridge, toaster, washer, no dryer, running water that we can drink and a caliphon or something named similar that heats our water. We have to light it every morning. I think it just puts a flame on the tubes where the water runs through. The toilets don’t flush too well, shower is tiny, top bunk with no rail, hard dirty tile floors......and I’m lovin’ it.

President and Sister Laycock are just angels. They are so enthusiastic and I was especially impressed by the power behind Sister Laycock. She was sweet, but when she spoke, I listened. President interviewed me . . . He told me, “Elder Tilley, you know how to work don’t you?” I responded, “Yes president I do”. He said the spirit told him that when I gave him a hug at the airport.

We ate KFC in the mall which looked pretty close to exactly the same as our malls except in Spanish….There is probably 1 dog to every three people that are out on the street. Some look pretty scary, but for the most part they don’t do much except for pretend to be dead. I’m not sure if they have states or providences or what not but the name of where ever I am Puente Alto. high bridge...

The plane was long but just great. I was praying for the faith and opportunity to share the Gospel with someone. I sat alone on the first ride and then... low and behold "Thomas" I think. We sat down and I just told him who I was a little bit. I wanted to share more...then...he pulled out of his bag a Book of Mormon. There may not have been a more simple opportunity. He was going to see a friend in Chile who he met in the states. He pretty much told me a lot about himself and his troubles. I showed him Alma 40-42 because he has had a hard time with the death of his grandma. He would pray to her just because he felt so close to her. I talked to him a bit about how God wants us to pray to Him because He is our father. He said the friend who he was going to see was a member and it seemed to me his friend was the driving force behind his desire to read. We landed the next morning.
